Holiday Decorating Ideas to Spruce Up Your Home
The professionals at Martel Windows and Doors warmly wish you and your family a happy, healthy holiday season. Tis’ the time of year when homeowners decorate their doors and windows to get into the holiday spirit. The well-trained professionals at Martel are pleased to offer ideas that will spruce up the appearance of your home.
Bedecking the front of your home and/or your porch is important because that’s the area that is most prominent to your neighbors and passersby.
Front porches with railings are perfect for draping garland for a beautiful display. Pine garlands are especially beautiful around pillars, posts and handrails! Pairing pine garlands with festive lights or bows further adds to the holiday aesthetic. If you’re looking for a classic look, try draping your pairing on a railing and from underneath the porch ceiling.
wreaths are also a popular decorative choice because they are compelling to the eye and symbolize power and strength. Most wreaths are made from durable evergreens, which can withstand the dampest and foulest weather.
Seats and/or swings
Seats and swings are extremely attractive when they adorn a front porch or are situated near a window or doorway. A stuffed reindeer, Santa Claus, or snowman can also make this area stand out.
Both real and faux — are very attractive and are readily available during the holiday season. Natural poinsettia won’t survive a cold winter on a porch, but they may be displayed inside the front windows. Artificial poinsettias provide the same appearance and will withstand the elements.
These serve several purposes; they add a touch of color in addition to providing visitors with a place to wipe their feet clean before entering your home. Be sure to use a mat that is resilient enough to handle a high traffic area, and is also attractive.
Fake snow and snowflakes
Central and South Texas do not see much of the wintery white stuff, the addition of fake snow and snowflakes. Spraying (fake) spray snow or adding snowflakes of many different shapes and colors to the door and windows will heighten the holiday sensation.
Real candles provide a lovely, authentic look and feel, although they need protection from the wind as well as careful placement to avoid damage and contact with children and pets. A simple alternative would be electric-powered candle lights.
The Christmas tree
The tree is a breathtaking and classic symbol of the holiday season. An outdoor-resistant version that is brightly lit would be perfect for the porch or in front of your home.
When it comes to the house Christmas lights, bright lights with little or no competing decorations are an outstanding choice because they outline the front facing windows and porch posts.
